Team Report: Sanz second in Stockton GP
The team’s Enrique Sanz was second in the Elite Circuit Series Race at Stockton on Tees in the North East of the country on Friday night.
Lining up for the team on the night were Enrique, Sebastian Mora, Grand and Fraser Martin, Conn McDunphy, Adria Moreno, and Adam Kenway. On a very technical circuit with some very slow bends which force the riders to sprint from almost a standstill to high speed every lap, it was going to be a demanding race and so it was.
The strategy for the race was for Seb to mark the moves or make his own whilst Enrique would wait for the sprint should that be the way the race was decided. The race started well with Enrique and Sebastian making a key selection at the front of the race and from there, Sebastian got himself into several moves off the front, as well as chasing others down, before the front group came together in the closing laps.
It was then down to Enrique, one of the fastest sprinters in Britain, and he didn’t disappoint, finishing second to Australian Brenton Jones. After Enrique crossed the line, he said “I’m happy with my race. Brenton got a gap of three to four metres into a corner and I chase him full gas but cant catch him. It was very fast today and I felt okay.”
Team boss Cherie Pridham was also happy with the team’s performance as the young riders continue to learn what it takes to race at this level whilst the team’s stars continue to deliver podium performances against the best in Britain.
The team now prepare for the big race on Sunday at Stockton, the road race on the course used for the British Championships in 2016.
