The Team Raleigh-GAC story
Team Raleigh GAC is managed by ex pro-cyclist Cherie Pridham and based in Derby, just down the road from Raleigh’s Nottingham HQ.
With new sponsors and riders on board for 2016 and a strong line up of cycle industry partners and local sponsors (including a new motorhome and very cool T5 Camper from Derby’s Don Amott Caravans) the whole squad is looking forward to a very productive season. They also have a new service course (the team race HQ)) for 2016 based at the University of Derby.
Cherie Pridham: “The squad has been strengthened for 2016 with new riders being brought in to do specific jobs which I believe will allow us to be even more successful than in 2015.
The local business have really got behind the team and we are proud to represent Derby and Nottingham area as we travel the UK.
We have won the British Cycling Elite Series for the last 3 years in a row and of course we want to retain that title, but we will also focus on performing in the Tour Series. It’s fast, frantic racing and a fan favourite our sponsors love it too as the media and TV coverage is fantastic. We won the 2015 Point Series Jersey which is a combination of team work and individual speed and is a great showcase of the performance of the Raleigh Militis Team Bike”
In its sixth year, there are many highlights for the team with victories and podiums aplenty over the years the team has been on the road. The latest success was a Team win at the Durham Tour Series, by one of the biggest winning margins ever and also Adria Moreno’s win in the Spring Cup, part of the National Road Race Series for Elite men.
When it comes to success, winning the very prestigious Star Trophy for the last three years (again, the National Road Race Series) is hard to top. Morgan Kneisky’s World Championship Gold Medal in 2015 however matches that as does a win at Lincoln a few years ago (Yanto Barker).
Success however is not limited to Britain. There have been stage wins in the Vuelta Mexico and the Tour de Normandie including the Points jersey winner and second overall. There have also been podiums in Tour de Beauce (Canada), KOM jersey’s in Challenge Mallorca and Circuit Ardennes and the Tour Series Sprints jersey overall winner on three occasions. And that’s just the highlights, three podium finishes for the riders in this years Tour Series is just one more example of how successful the team is and will continue to be.
Launched in 2010, Cherie Pridham Racing (Team Raleigh GAC) has as its primary sponsors Raleigh bikes UK who supply the team’s Militis racing bikes and GAC, a global shipping and logistics company.
The team is also sponsored by a roster of additional sponsors including Toyota UK, WD40, Don Amott Leisure Kingdom, High 5, Primal, Cole, Unior, Kitbrix, Velotoze, University of Derby, Perform, SmithCooper, SRAM, Schwalbe, Uvex, Xbionics, Fizik, FSA, Sporttape and Purpose Media.
The team race the highest ranking events in the United Kingdom including UCI events here and abroad. The team in 2016 had World Track Champion Seb Mora as part of its line up and during this season, won the Spring Cup (a national Road Race series for pro men) and the Elite Circuit Series (town centre races for Elite men).
